MCI are pleased to confirm that planning was secured via delegated decision on the 11th September for a 38-home scheme at Cale Lane, Wigan. The scheme was revised during the planning process following discussions with Wigan Council and will consist of a mixture of two and three-bedroom properties.
This scheme will deliver 100% affordable housing on a challenging brownfield site, helping to bring regeneration into the area. Once the Registered Providers are appointed, homes will be made available through a mixture of shared ownership, affordable rent and social rent.
In addition to providing affordable housing, the scheme will also bring a number of social and economic benefits to Wigan. These benefits include creating job opportunities for local people, commitments to local community projects and hubs and also supporting young people entering the construction industry through providing apprenticeships and work placements on site.
The team are looking forward to a start on site early October for Cale Lane.
